Please join us for an informal conservation with Chicago's Haitian gallerist, Nicole Smith! She discusses African traditions within Haitian folk art practices displaying fine artworks from her own collection. Light refeshments will be served plus a mini-documentary by Illinois Latino Voice. Smith born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti where she began her career in 1971 as curator at the historic Centre D'Art. In Chicago, she founded Nicole Gallery in 1986 representing Haitian, African-American, and African artists. For over thirty years, she has provided Chicago's art scene with a multi-ethnic mix of artists, styles, and aesthetics.
