Entrepreneurship in the United States is not retreating. It is being reinvented.

In May 2026 alone, Americans submitted 523,971 new business applications, representing a 3.7% increase from April, according to the latest seasonally adjusted data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The agency also projected that nearly 30,000 employer businesses would eventually emerge from the applications filed during the following month.
