Creator/Director/Choreographer Anthony W. Johnson, and the force behind Ballet Magique has spent over two decades mesmerizing audiences throughout the country and the around the world with his unique and pointed artistic interpretation of form and movement.
By applying his supreme and unparalleled level of experience, having worked alongside some of the greatest entertainers of our time including; former Beatle Paul McCartney, and a collection of the worlds most prestigious Ballet and Opera companies, to what ultimately has been his lifelong vision of fusing dance, magic and martial arts, Johnson collaborated with and has been mentored by some of the world’s most prolific and accomplished engineers, magicians and technicians to produce what is destined to become a globally venerated, non-traditional art form.
As The Director of Ballet Magique, Johnson also received 4 Lester Horton Award nominations including “Outstanding Achievement in Choreography” for Ballet Magique’s “Ring of the Rose as well as Outstanding Achievements in Costume, Set and Lighting Design.” That year his student Nobutaka Mochimaru also received Male dancer of the Year from The Beverly Hills Outlook for his performance with Ballet Magique.
Ballet Magique has has received many raves from entertainment enthusiast, corporate sponsors including dynamic accolades from Master Magician Lance Burton, Renowned illusion designer Jim Steinmeyer, The Orange County Chinese Association, and the Beverly Hills Outlook.
It comes as no surprise that Anthony Johnson shares the same birthday as the late, great Ballet Master and the father of American Ballet, George Balanchine. Throughout his illustrious career, Johnson, (Founder, Director and Choreographer of Ballet Magique), has trained and performed as a soloist for many prestigious Ballet/Modern/Opera companies throughout the United States and around the world. You can also see his innate creativity and fine disciple in the power of his students.
Johnson’s personal private students have been accepted or received scholarships to American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, The San Francisco Ballet School, The Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet School, Alvin Ailey and The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet. They have also gone to soloist contracts with Hamburg Ballet, Columbia City Ballet, Ballet de Printemps American Ballet Theatre, and Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Cirque Du Soliel, and on Broadway in “Mama Mia”, Movin’ Out,” TheLion King” Films like Across the Universe, Step up, You got Served, and have appeared on Dancing with the Stars. Some have also toured with Janet Jackson and Britney Spears and are in Germany’s production of “Cats”. From 2006-2009
In 2009 Johnson got a principle role in Land of the Astronauts starring David Arquette and Vivica A Fox.
All in all, Johnson strives to progress Ballet and Magic into the future by combining the two art forms then fusing them with various dynamic and daring entertainment genres. Ballet and Magic are both classic art forms that are seeing a resurgence. His goal is to not only fuse these these two art forms but t to enrich this and future generations by offering a fascinating outlook on the virtuosity of the human body while engrossing the mystique of the human psyche.
