The 2010 Regional Student Symposiums will target 5 key cities this Spring – it will be coming to Chicago on Saturday, April 24. The event will bring together Latino students focused on business, accounting and finance for a day of insight, guidance, leadership skills and professional opportunities that will provide them an edge in today’s competitive job market. Through workshops and panel discussions, students will be exposed to the realities of job-searching and empowered to succeed in the face of today’s economic hardships. Afterwards, we will hold a Career Fair where students will have the opportunity to put their new skills to practice when meeting with prospective employers.

A. Internship preparedness
Workshop Examples-
• Building up your career: Learn how to enter the job market through internships
• Value of internships: Think like a recruiter
Discuss internships as stepping stone for career planning. Internships provide opportunities to experiment and pursue careers that match academic/personal interests; provide valuable work experience. Can also lead to college credit, resume building.
