Held at Level Sporting Club in collaboration with SHPE Chicago, GANAS Tech and supported by Illinois Tech, the evening brought together technology professionals, entrepreneurs, recruiters, students, and business leaders for meaningful networking and an engaging discussion about the future of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, startups, and technology careers. While the discussion covered emerging technologies, career development, and entrepreneurship, one theme consistently surfaced throughout the evening. Artificial intelligence is not replacing expertise. It is amplifying the value of professionals who possess technical knowledge, industry experience, critical thinking, and the ability to solve complex business problems. Those who combine human judgment with AI capabilities will increasingly become the professionals organizations seek to hire and promote.
That message is supported by market data. According to the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025, nearly 40 percent of core workplace skills are expected to change by 2030, while AI and big data rank as the fastest-growing skill areas globally. LinkedIn's Work Change Report similarly found that professionals who actively develop AI skills are experiencing significantly greater career mobility as employers increasingly prioritize AI literacy across nearly every business function.
For the Hispanic community, the conversation carries even greater significance.
The U.S. Hispanic population represents one of the country's fastest-growing sources of talent, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. According to the Latino Donor Collaborative, if U.S. Latinos were measured as an independent economy, they would represent a GDP exceeding $4.1 trillion, making it the fifth-largest economy in the world. That remarkable economic contribution has been fueled by rising educational attainment, increasing labor force participation, and record levels of entrepreneurship.
Yet opportunities remain to further strengthen Hispanic representation in STEM careers.
The National Science Foundation reports that Hispanics account for approximately 19 percent of the U.S. population but remain underrepresented across many science, engineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology occupations. Increasing participation in these fields is not simply about representation. It is about ensuring that one of America's fastest-growing talent pools plays a central role in designing the technologies that will shape business, healthcare, education, finance, manufacturing, cybersecurity, and government for decades to come.

Additional research from McKinsey & Company continues to show that organizations with more diverse leadership outperform peers financially while demonstrating greater innovation and resilience.
Artificial intelligence itself also benefits from broader participation.
The quality of AI systems depends on the quality and diversity of the people building them. Engineers, product managers, cybersecurity professionals, data scientists, ethicists, and business leaders each influence how AI systems are designed, trained, evaluated, and governed. Broader Hispanic participation helps reduce blind spots, improve cultural understanding, and create technologies that better serve increasingly diverse consumers and global markets.

Companies across nearly every industry are competing aggressively for professionals who understand AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, software engineering, and data analytics. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment in computer and information technology occupations to grow much faster than the average for all occupations over the next decade, adding hundreds of thousands of new positions while offering median salaries well above the national average. Organizations that successfully recruit diverse technical talent will be better positioned to innovate, expand into new markets, and navigate rapidly changing customer expectations.
Chicago is uniquely positioned to lead that transformation.
The region continues to strengthen its technology ecosystem through investments in AI, advanced manufacturing, fintech, healthcare innovation, logistics, and cybersecurity.
